Thanks for your questions.

1. Most blogs (including our own and those on WordPress) use tags to show the Published Date and the Modified Date. There are also other hints, like those in the byline or article, schema markup and others. Google will read all of those things to determine the dates.
2. If you just want to tell your readers, then you can just include the edit date in the text of the page. Usually, a line in the post that says “Edit on :” then a description of what was edited is fine.
